What, why and how?

In a world of boundless posting, how do you signal that something is important?

Try spotlighting it.

Big product release? New blog post? Fresh meme material?

You should spotlight that.

Spotlight is quite familiar -- it's really just a way to share content with a slight twist.

First, pick a friend to share your content with. Anyone who has a Farcaster account already has a Spotlight account, so you shouldn't have a hard time finding their profile on the app. The user needs to follow you in order for you to be able to spotlight on their profile.

Second, queue up the spotlight booking by pasting a link to the important content. The app will generate a content preview from the link.

Check to see if the preview looks good. Different sites produce different preview metadata. The only rule is that you're happy with it, but sometimes a Zora or Highlight link will produce a better preview than the Warpcast link with a Zora or Highlight embed.

Third, press the spotlight button and watch the content spread, on the app and via Farcaster frame. You will need to have some ETH in your Spotlight wallet to confirm this transaction. This ETH goes to the friend who you're sharing the content with. You can learn more about the system in the rest of these docs.

Fourth, get your friends to "signal" your content. They can do this in the frame and soon via the app. The higher your content's signal score, the more prominently it will feature on the Spotlight app.

Note that you will need to claim your profile before being able to book a spotlight.
